SATISFIED (link to the song)
Admittedly, I haven’t done a lot of composing, but I decided to start posting the few things I have done. This is a setting of Mary Baker Eddy’s text “Satisfied”, performed by Sue Holmes at the Cedarburg Christian Science Church, where I was the organist for 11 years, one of my favorite gigs of all time. I wrote this song specifically for her, and with the whole congregation of lovely people there in mind, who welcomed me warmly into their lives. It was a very special part of my time in Milwaukee, The sound quality is not great, but I hope you can pick out the lovely vocals, and the organ vibrato, my favorite setting of choice. Enjoy! (PS Also, the message is my favorite of MBE’s. It says it all.) Clink on the link above to listen to “Satisfied”. Thanks!
It matters not what be thy lot,
So Love doth guide;
For storm or shine, pure peace is thine,
And of these stones, or tyrants’ thrones,
God able is
To raise up seed — in thought and deed —
To faithful His.
Aye, darkling sense, arise, go hence!
Our God is good.
False fears are foes — truth tatters those,
Love looseth thee, and lifteth me,
Ayont hate’s thrall:
There Life is light, and wisdom might,
And God is All.
The centuries break, the earth-bound wake,
Who doth His will — His likeness still —
