As a tribute to Ed, this page will be the home page of JJPlays.com for the next week. The Milwaukee Pianists’ Page is still accessible.
Given the hiatus between postings here, it seems appropriate that the next featured pianist would be a mega-powerhouse. Ed Doemland really does it all. On June 6, Ed will be awarded a Lifetime Achievement in Music Award from the Civic Music Association in Milwaukee. Well-deserved. Ed is a phenomenal player, arranger, transcriber, composer and supporter of the arts. He is a veritable institution in Milwaukee. I think 2012 should be the year of Doemland…perhaps this will inspire you to seek him out for your gig. To read more about Ed, check out his bio on jjplays.com or this other bio I was able to dig up on the web. There’s woefully little of Ed’s playing recorded, but be sure to check out this video to get a taste. (It also gives you a pretty good idea of Ed’s kindhearted nature!)
UPDATE: ”Official” Ed Doemland bio here!
