Emi Okumura is an active performer. She is currently a candidate for the degree Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music and is a Departmental Graduate Assistant. She also serves as a Teaching Assistant for the studio of Professor Natalya Antonova. She Holds degrees and a diploma from Peabody Institute, Mannes College and Eastman. She gives solo and chamber recitals regularly as well as duo recitals with Wei-Ting Kuo, a violist from the Chicago Symphony and the former assistant viola principal of Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Her recent media appearance include BBC Radio Four in UK, and her solo and concerto performances has also been broad casted on TV and radio stations in US and Russia. She is the 1st prize winner of 18 national and international piano competitions, including Moulin D’ande International Piano Competition in France, Harvard Music Association Scholarship Competition, Chopin Foundation of the United States Scholarship Competition and more. Her teachers include Natalya Antonova, Pavlina Dokovska, Faina Kofman and Boris Slutsky.
