William (Bill) Lavonis holds degrees in voice, opera and musical theatre and piano from Cincinnati Conservatory, Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts, and Shenandoah Conservatory and has performed over 100 leading and supporting roles in opera and musical theatre nationally and locally.
He has coached, accompanied, stage-directed, and conducted many operatic and musical theatre productions while at UW-Milwaukee and is the co-founder of UWM’s BFA degree in Musical Theatre. Known as an outstanding voice teacher, Bill coaches and accompanies singers in opera, music theatre, pop, rock, church and synagogue music. His students have won many awards in auditions nationwide, including the Metropolitan Opera and others have been engaged at the Chicago Lyric, Seattle, Des Moines Metro, Kentucky, Houston, San Francisco, Florentine and Skylight opera companies. Bill also specializes in French, Italian, German, Russian, Norwegian, Spanish, Czech and Latin diction.
